Local Spots

 The Hot Spring

When the tour guide mentioned a hot spring. I associated it with the one (Pedas) back home. I did not think it was much of an experience but I was mistaken. The Hot Spring in Chiang Rai was naturally warm and hot.
Yes, the smoke exuded by the heat of the water is real.
I remember seeing some of them when I visited the hot springs in Taiwan.

We could not resist dipping our tired feet into the natural heat of the water. Though hot in the beginning to some of us, we got acclimatised to the heat after a short while. All of us enjoyed the dip and it took us quite a while to decide to get out the dip.
It was therapeutic to the feet.

When we saw the sign; 'boil egg' , we were not too sure if the heat was strong enough for the process.
Can eggs be boiled just like that?

That's how they are boiled ! Boiled eggs were sold all over the place. Naturally boiled; quite a feat.

The Thais are full of entrepreneurship. They sell everything; everywhere. The hardworking lot is all out to catch tourists and their crave for local products. Here, all kinds of silver jewellery are marketed and in all forms of design. It was difficult to choose, let alone buy.

The two Mathematics teacher speak Mandarin and are wizards at figures and money.
Given a task, they deliver neat and clean just as they portray themselves.
It was a great joy and privilege working with them for all the years.
They make working moments pleasurable.

Before we retire for the day, Yin Yin said we must see the contribution of a Thai philanthropist to the country.
We wondered what it was.

Encircled by a water moat, this master piece in white is the handiwork of an architect and it is built just for artistic eyes to savour. Imagine the magnitude of hard work and care given to create such a feature. Created close to local culture and art, this all-white feature cannot be reached or touched by anyone. It is to be seen only. The intricately-designed piece of art attracts tourists all over the world and it is indeed a sight to behold. One never seem to get enough of it.

Every angle of it is beautiful and it you really wonder at the artistic work of the Thais.
It is indeed hard to find anything like that in the world; only to be found in Chiangrai.

Mother and daughter have the best of relationship and they are great company to be with. Little Jeanne has grown in height and maturity and is a wizard with the hand phone. What adults cannot do with it , she can. Ask her for solutions to challenges with the phone, she is there to resolve it. Clever girl.

She is posing with the figurine of the man behind the scene. Yes, he is the architect of the majestic building and has portrayed himself for everyone. Fun-loving man. Some personalities are meant to bring joy and blessings to others. He definitely belongs to the category; Lee Lan is also one of them.

Next, dinner !

What a meal to end the day; a well-cooked plate of a local fish.
Yes, tasty and palatable, this dish was a real appetizer and given a choice, we wanted a second helping.

We ended the day in Chiangrai after a 4 hour ride; not altogether a pleasant journey but nevertheless it was a journey to be done.
