Blessings

 The Day

I thought it would have been my last in 2014 but Pn Norhan, the senior assistant,  made it happen for me again this year.
So, though held on a week day, parents took time off to be with their children, giving them their due support. Speech day this year was a simple occasion but nevertheless full of meaning. I am grateful to be a part of the day for, really the last time of my teaching career.

The stage was again set for the occasion. So neat and pretty.

There were many who came and skipped class to be with us especially the cohort of the previous year.
I knew of two. They told me they were not coming the day before but I managed to persuade them not to miss it as it would be the one and only time for them ; thank you children for coming.

This is Jonathon. The best of his class in 2014. This child is prim and proper; doing what is right most of the time and staying top all the time. He has a sister in the same format. So the parents are to be praised for raising such exemplary kids. He is good at languages, calculations and the sciences. He is a great photographer and is super helpful. He is a good son. If more this kind is found here, the school has more stories to tell.

Abigail is truly pleasant, hardworking and responsible. All assignments given would be seriously considered and done. Active in the school orchestra team, she is a prefect to behold. All will be caught red-handed. She is a delight to have. A straight A PT3 candidate.

His mother has taught him well. She is behind the well-mannered child. This I can confirm for I have met her a couple of times. Rama's dear mother is a very concerned parent seeing to the school calendar carefully before planning any trip for the family. Though they made a trip to India close to his exam days for prayers, Rama made it as one of the straight A PT3 candidates too. The obedient disposition he displays in school is commendable indeed.

Coming from a home of scorers, Jin Shien has been named the top candidate for the PT3 cohort of 2014 and his brother was once named the No.1 2013 SPM candidate too ! So, a family of No.1s. The parents must be grateful to the school but the school too is proud to be their alma mater. Keep up the good show girl. Almost every morning, it was Tusyita, Abigail or Jin Shien who will come up to me and help carry my bags to the office. Unforgettable.

Nisyantini is daughter to the counselor of the school. She is the No.1 SPM candidate. Her 9A+ gives her the coveted bursary which promises financial assistance and a bright future. The dentist to be is a deserving candidate; all the more so because she is a teacher's child. Someone told me that God is especially tuned to teachers' children. In all cohorts, you will see teachers' children scoring the best and bestowed scholarships. Her brother too was a scorer in the 2013 cohort. It runs in the family. Glad for the mother who truly works hard in school for the betterment of students and teachers.

Kishern is tall; in height and in scores. Congratulations young man. Though I do not teach him, I know he is a keen learner and always ready to be at his best. He is into IT.

He is cheeky but clever enough to stay out of trouble in his final year and to end up a straight A scorer. Well done Hari. He gets into some calculated mischief at times but I am truly glad that the guy did his parents proud. Stay smart and good, son.

This is another lady to behold. You Jenn, the head girl was named the best overall student for her straight As and involvement in school co curricular activities. Small and demure in disposition don't get into trouble with her karate kicks ! A black belt holder. Guess what. Mother is teacher Lee Ling. See, another proven fact that teachers produce scholars !
Blessings aplenty for teachers' children.
Now if you are a man, get a teacher for a wife. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
Try.

So, to the cohort of PT3 2014, congratulations and continue to score the best for your Alma mater.

SPM 2014. I was not able to get other photos which I would have loved to talk about. Remembering Maisarah and Nadhirah who are serious learners and at the same time able to play hard too. They manage their time well and know when to play and when to learn. Congratulations to all and may the future stay bright and good for you all.

God Bless.

The Labour of Love

28th February saw another event happening to the folks of the school.
It was the Annual General Meeting for the PTA . So it's election and voting for a set of parents who are willing to put in effort, time and money for the betterment of the school.
We were fortunate to receive a most honoured guest; the Director of Education of Selangor. It was indeed an unexpected visit and we were flattered at his decision to meet our humble selves.

He gave a motivated speech especially reminding parents and teachers that vocational learning and living skills are vital for meaningful existence and that all academic achievement is not the ultimate in life. There is need to impart good values and survival skills as part and parcel of success in life. What is the use of all the achievement if not applied in life? Food for thought.

The committee waited in great anticipation for this visit as the school seldom had the privilege for an honour like this. You see Lee Ling in blue? She has been in school for a long while and she is the live wire. Her speed in getting things done is not easy to emulate. The lady in maroon is Pn Chua. She has been with the school ever since its inception and has been called the unsung hero; being the first to arrive in the morning and making sure things are in order each day. The school is indebted to her in many ways.

So the hitting of the simple gong is symbolic of the opening ceremony and there, he's ready for the next agenda.

We created a special room ; Serambi Sarana. This will be a room for small groups of parents to meet informally for open discussions and decisions. We hope this will strengthen the bond and make more positive things happen in the future. So it was officially opened today. The Director gave suggestions on how best the room can be utilized. It was kind of him.

The run last year was a major factor for other projects to take place in the school. Children ran for a collection to fund the project of the year; the extension of the school canteen. They did not realise then what an impact they created by the participation. It's this. The team work in tandem with a good cause will surely bring to fruition something good.

Look at the smily teachers. They are fearless of commitment; they want a leader to lead. So, this willingness is imperative for a success story to happen. Kudos teachers.

Recess time has always been a nightmare when students for space in a cram canteen.
There was a need to extend it.

The space beside the canteen is good reason to respond. The jogathon was carried out for it.

The hard work of everyone has today allowed the space to be used fruitfully.
See, beautiful now.

I am glad to see them during recess enjoying themselves.
It's unspeakable joy.

We also upgraded the furniture of the old canteen.
Today the students can eat in style; fast food style !

Isn't it a joy to see them happy ?

This police officer is our man in charge of delinquent activities of the school. He was instrumental in giving us the permit to collect the funds. Was he excited to see the approval given gave fruition to a project well done.He was very pleased indeed.

So, the Director gave his blessings and put down his approval with glee.

 He also was very sporting.
He showed his interest in the welfare of the students and teachers and took his precious time for a memorable shot with the teachers. We were so privileged to have a photo to remember by.
What a visit and what a day.

Kudos to the PTA of 2014/2015 for a job well done for the love of the children.

Just For A Day

King for a day.

Mr Khoo retires today after more than 30 years in the education service.

They say every dog has its day and today is truly his day.
Celebrated with joy and appreciation, the school had a string of activities in tow to entertain both the celebrity and the audience.
At 60, it is mandatory that he leaves.
Today the ladies had fun dressing him up both as a king and a biker.
See, he is full of joy and happiness.

There was dancing and singing and the simple performances lit up the day.

The Wind Orchestra was not missed out.
The members blew, strummed and hit the drum with feelings for Mr. Khoo.

Induja sang Taylor Swift's Blank Space while Jean's rendition of the Beatles' "Let It Be" caught the audience's attention.

The head boy presented the bouquet for the man.

Teachers showed their support.

The office staff will miss the kind soul; simple and humble.

The administrators appreciate him too; he is hard of hearing at times; otherwise a good listener.

Teacher Murugama came to me this morning and said she will miss him; a father figure to her.

Pn Len and Pn Goh gave their love to him; unconditionally . Believe me.

The party is on too. The hall has never looked prettier than this. All it needs now is to be air-conditioned and the place becomes perfect.

The beautiful cake for the handsome man.

Alas, time waits for no man. He has to go. So he clocks out.

The lucky man has a battalion ready to give him that manly send off.

Yes, truly a rugged man now. Mr. Khoo goes off on a super bike!
His dream came true; made possible by the lovely teachers.

All ready for the send off !

The children were excited to wave their goodbyes...

Goodbye Mr. Khoo.
God bless you for the days to come.
Happy retirement.
So ends another episode in the annals of the school.

The unsung heroes are the teachers of the school. In one spirit with respect they gave him a memorable day; one which will be etched in his memory for many days to come. Thank you dear teachers for this unconditional support given.
You are truly a class of your own; first class.
