The Exciting Spots.
We were next led to the northern most spot of the country; next to Myanmar.
People were seen having their passports identified before going in and out of both countries.
As expected, there was an array of business activities lining up; especially on local fruits, food and gemstones; silver in particular.
That's Lee Lan with Jeanne while we girls on the right were busy picking fruits.
Chuah, the artistic eye could not resist touching local cloths and patch work and was amazed at the size of the fruits. Chui Yean, the calm one is sweetest with her smile.
Over at this border town, the locals sell nuts of all sizes, shapes, tastes and varieties; at a very cheap price.
.
Vegetable roots were also abundant and highly in demand.
The pineapples; miniature in size is worth the bite; sweet and juicy.
Very soon, we were treated to a sumptuous meal again of local cooking but we find that it lacked the Thai oomp... we next requested for real Thai stuff to which Yin Yin scratched her forehead.
So, after lunch it was fun time again as we held hands to walk down a flight of steps to the waters.
The girls are surely high in spirits as they look forward to have a feel of 3 countries bordering one another by waters. Yes, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar are just with reach of the eyes. We were informed that we could make a short trip into Laos but not Myanmar. Going into Laos need no formal papers. Justin was most excited and his attire told it all. He was ready for fun.
We were ferried across the waters by a small boat as the waters did not pose any danger.
Strapped in life-saving jackets, we savored in the local scenery with awe.
How often do we have the pleasure of coming together in this way.
It is not as easy to even organise a meal together back home.
So it is with the greatest of pleasure to be in one another's company; friends forever.
We were ushered into Laos effortlessly.
The afternoon was glaringly hot but the air was cool. So even though we strolled under the hot sun, we hardly sweated. I told dad that we should take a picture of Laos and showed it to his friend who may be working there soon. We wondered at the ease in getting into the country; it looked as though there was hardly any fuss.
Snake wine in bottles. This is quite a sight. There were lizards too. Otherwise, this border town sold all kinds of local handicraft and goods; scarves, bags, hats, souvenirs.
There were many stalls selling all imitation goods; name them...and it was really a huge collection.
As we plough through the waters, we notice religious connotations and worship. Where man is, God exists.
We went to Thailand, but we got a foot in Laos and a glimpse of Myanmar at the other end.
Quite a deal.
This to prove to ourselves that we have been to the Golden Triangle.
A photo for keeps and memory.
We were glad to have a chance to visit the place.
