It Came

 The Good Friday Rain
It never fails to come.

Thank you God that at your death, we have life.
So it is said:
It is finished John 19:30

At 58

 Today I turned 58.
It would also mean I would have retired if not for the extension I took.
Did I make a good decision?

But I treasure this greeting sent to my phone. By whom I can't tell. Unknown. Thank you dear sender.
I also received lovely well wishes and prayers from dear friends.
To all of you who remembered, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation.
There are some good things you receive when you are an old girl and have been in the teaching profession for a length of time. Students, colleagues, parents recall you as a teacher and say good wishes. So you seem to have plenty of people around you and you do not feel alone.
Blessings in life.

To receive a card is rare in this modern era. But some good practices are meant for life; like this hand-made card all the way from my dearest sister in Taipei. She made this card herself and I received just this day. Even the card arrived on perfect timing. To my sister in Taipei, thank you.

Mee Sing from Taipei ; thank you for thoughtfulness.

To Sara who bought this cake; she could not bake today for her work is taking a toll in her life now...
mama says thank you.

We sang the birthday song together. I thank God for His faithfulness and loving mercy to me. I am grateful that I have Sara around me. It's good to at least have a child with you. You can go to her and hug her and allow the maternal instincts to be released in the hug. It's refreshing to look at a young face; that's why it's a blessing to see all the young faces in school. It makes you feel and think younger.

Another year has come and another number is added.
May I pray that I will continue to be basked in the mercy and grace of God of which I cannot go on without.
May I be bold and strong enough to trudge on with a promise from the Good Book:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of a sound mind." 2 Tim 1:7.

May I enjoy the fullness of God as I walk each day.
Thank you dear Jesus.

Fun In School

The star of Hitz FM came !
When we received a call the previous day; the connotation was to celebrate a possible happy day during the release of the SPM results. As RTM had an earlier appointment to come in for the day, we initially thought they must have concurred. But what a surprise we had alright !
We did not know the star was hosting the event !

The ever sporting principal always gives support to spontaneity, creativity and impromptu appearances.
Jin had the privilege of breakfasting with her !

I met him at 7.00 am and I was told that he appeared at the gate of the school at 6.45 am !
He was a perfect student coming to school on time !

But the head boy does not think so ... Jin has broken at least 10 school rules with his shorts, hairstyle, shoes, belt...the list goes on.

His guest appearance was a boost to  Seafield's FM station. The children were excited at the live appearance of a real Hitz star! Oh what a lovely surprise they had. Others must be crying away at the unfairness. Oh but that's the privilege we have in having an ex-boy in Reuben Kang; the partner of Jin !
Where was he? I thought they stick to each other like glue? Reuben must be overseas; impossible that he would not have tagged along especially to his Alma mater.

So, dear Jin had a taste of sitting on the floor for the morning assembly.
The students are a real privileged lot.

Of course he stole the show from every angle; teachers and students were mesmerised by his vocal and publicity skills .

The prefects gleefully gathered for a memorable shot. Look at Shakir; he must be glad to be back after a short stint at the boarding school. It was too much for him to leave the school. We are glad to have him back.
Jin popped into the classroom and the girls went goo goo ga ga...what about the boys ? Gee gee ?

Before he left, he met the younger ones of the school; they could not believe their ears and eyes.

A pat on the cheek for his favorite teacher; Pn Poh. Who in Subang Jaya does not know the Chemistry teacher?

Who can surpass the sharp eyes of Doris Thomas ? Hey Jin, you are coming to help in our talent nite, aren't you? Oh sure, sure...just give Reuben a call ! Gentlemen do not break promises, ah.

A special thanks to the library teacher, Pn Tan Geok Siew for arranging the day and making things work out.

So, enjoy the clip.
Fun in school occasionally can la... but not all the time ah, dear children

Glory And Grace

Think Orchids
Think Singapore
Agree?

Lovely, aren't they? No, they are not from the garden of Seafield. They are from the land of their origin.
I couldn't resist taking a photo of them; where ? I forgot which mall. Was it ION? Did I get it right?
I only know they are so lovely.

But just as lovely are the lilies from home; brought all the way by papa to his dear daughter in Singapore.

Yes, there is good news in the air; don't look at the image behind the bag though; not meant to be there.
Blame the mirror.

See the happy faces? We are here for a special occasion.

It's the ROM for Grace and Aaron !
A registration before the church wedding in October before God and man.
Reverend Wendy of Wesley Methodist Church graciously  conduct the registration.
A reminder on her lips that they are both to honour God and promise to keep themselves well before God.
So, she smilingly gathered the witnesses and asked papa for permission to give Grace away.
With his consent, she permitted the signatories to be put down.
"What God put together, let no man put asunder".

Both fathers agreed on the marriage with joy and gratitude to God.

That's a happy day for the family.
We are blessed to be gathered together as a family.
May the ties of God knit the family in love and harmony.

Yvonne on the left has been Grace's buddy since primary days. They go through thick and thin and share their joys and sorrows together. That they should meet again as pals in Singapore is indeed a joy as they continue to dwell in the sweetness of friendship and warmth. Michelle; an ex-Seafieldian joined in the joyous occasion and gave her support graciously.

Esther,Waris, and Michelle's boyfriend are happy for the couple.

To the couple , papa gave them a verse:
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways " Psalm 91:11

Aaron touched us with his song;
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.

May the fullness of God and the countenance of Jesus be upon your lives from now on.
God Bless.
May the glory and grace of God follow you all your lives.
Mama and Papa love both of you.

The Poor Heart

Do you think it is easy being a teacher?
 Really it is not.
Not when you have to face the brunt of handling the outcome of 2 public exams within a span of 3 days.
Expectations, expectations, expectations.
Take it easy; everyone says.
Yea, take it easy.

The dear principal; strong and steadfast to handle all that there is; the race is about being fearless and management of stress.
Yet, at the back of her mind; she knows she has to face the department, the cluster school chase, the stakeholders and the public.
Come what may she says; she prays it be good.
So the day came and went of course.

Thilaham asked; 'what do you think?' Chin Chin says ' aya, que sera sera la'. Ng Poh Choo ponders over her Maths achievement; now what happens? Whoever says a teacher's life is easy? Love you teachers.

Now they asked; 'what is our fate?' Why are we waiting?

Yes, Tan Xiao Hui; the student with straight A+; one of the top students of the state. This guy is not a book worm; he was 'on fire' during the Scouts annual campfire and stole the show with his zest and vigour for life. An all rounder, he is indeed a candidate for a future leader.

This quiet unexpected girl stole the show too with her straight A+; Wong Xin Le. When I asked her how she did it she said; 'study'. So different strategies in life.

Son of a teacher in school, Loong Yi is the robotics guy of the school. A favourite of the principal, he is always with her where computers, robotics and technology are concerned. Loong Yi writes very well; that I can vouch as I taught him in younger years. A pleasant and loving child well brought up by mummy.

Oh it is just too much for him.Why my dear son? 'Oh I miss one A+ for that perfect score ! I cannot take it !

Yes, you can Hui Ming. Life is more than that. You still can be a mechanical engineer with a smaller A.
Don't cry baby.
You have done papa and mama proud.

I could not hold back my joy for Jared. His brothers Joel and Joshua Yim were all our protege.
He did well.

That's mama Khasniyati with son Imran. They die for the school choir and still made it to the top. It goes to say being active in cocurricular activities does not mean you cannot make it academically.

Sohan says he wants all A+; all As is insufficient...enough Sohan.

The all As scorers; thank you.

Yes, we are joyful on this happy day again.

The 69 straight As.
54 missed an A for the all As category.
It was a 99.5 % pass for the school.
This is stressful for 2013.
My teachers are now on their toes and putting on thinking caps.
Wish us a good journey for the year.
Pray for us.

The Valedictorian

The final STPM cohort that ends in a final test recorded a 100% pass.
Congratulations to the students who did the school proud.

Last year's STPM students had an agonizing wait before the results were revealed.

Teachers too were on their toes as they analysed the findings.
Poor teachers will have to answer to never ending questions.

This is Johan; with his CGPA of 3.42; is a favourite among the students as he is often very actively involved in activities that had our stomachs in stitches.

Harmony did her Alma Mater proud with her CGPA of 3.75.

This quiet unassuming girl; Jane Yeap Soong Yin has a CGPA of 3.92 !; the top girl.

Huang Sheng; the Valedictorian was virtually carried through to receive his reward; his CGPA of 4.0!
A humble and friendly guy, he often helped the teachers by being the best learner !
So today he truly received what he deserved.

The top boy and the top girl.

A happy day for the happy family.
Well done boys and girls .
